After-Action Report, December 10th

At length we found the remains of the bandit raid – seven dead men (find their names attached) with a small fraction of their cargo, mostly worthless sundries of no use to uncivilized men. Of horses, weapons, and carts there was no sign. There is substantial evidence of a firefight in the area, and all of the men died of gunshot wounds.

Afterwards, we decided to push forward slightly, to see if we might be able to catch the bandits dividing the spoils nearby, or perhaps overtake them on the way back to their camp. In this we were unsuccessful, but we did see evidence that points to a considerable bandit presence: a number of abandoned camps, fresh garbage, and traps for large game. These are too far off the road to be the detritus of normal travelers, and too far from Newton to be townsfolk.
